“Hannah’s ability to advocate for the music industry is second to none.”
— Tom See, Former Head of Live Nation
Tom SeeFormer Head of Live NationIn 2022, while leading Live Nation’s music venues, I met Hannah at the merch stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. During that conversation, she spoke eloquently about the financial hurdles artists face while touring and raised a thoughtful question about why venues earn commission on merchandise sales.
That conversation stayed with me. A few years later, we randomly crossed paths again in our office lobby, and we picked up right where we left off, back in that same discussion. This time, she highlighted the fact she had been touring since she was 16 years old and was still struggling to pay for hotels and gas. Shortly after, we took inspired action and launched the On The Road Again program, which eliminated merchandise commissions at our clubs across the country and put gas cards and cash in the hands of artists to help with the increasing costs of touring.
Hannah’s ability to advocate for the music industry is second to none. Change only happens when someone is willing to drive the narrative, and Hannah did exactly that.
Hannah Wicklund’s fourth studio album War On Women; Calling All Good Men is a monster that’s both beauty and the beast. It is a call to arms for change and a gutsy, gripping, rollercoaster ride which ratchets up the drama, shakes with rage and basks in beauty.
Across its 13 tracks the highly acclaimed singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist shimmies through rock, soul, blues, folk, gospel and pop. It takes in a tale of heartbreak in strange circumstances, lays bare the obstacles Hannah overcame to take back control of her career, and offers hope for the future.
Released on her own label, Strawberry Moon Records, this self-produced, self-released record has earned a wealth of praise from press, with Jace Media declaring:
There are albums that entertain, and then there are albums that demand to be heard. Hannah Wicklund’s War On Women; Calling All Good Men, released on 28th August, firmly belongs in the latter category. It is an intensely personal, emotionally charged collection of songs born from betrayal, heartbreak and ultimately liberation.
It confirms Wicklund as one of the most exciting guitarists and songwriters in modern rock.

“Gutsy, emotive rock with hard-hitting guitar and a nuanced, feminist soul. Her character and quality as a writer and guitarist grow ever stronger.

“Thirteen sublime, scorching songs, at once a warning and a winner’s lap. Her first album since breaking free from an industry which conspired to keep her quiet.
Rick at Night
Celebrating 20 years since starting her journey through Rock N Roll on the beaches of South Carolina

Hannah Wicklund was born in Beaufort, South Carolina in 1997. She grew up on the beaches of Hilton Head Island and began her musical journey early on. Piano was her first instrument, sitting down to learn Beatles songs and classical pieces starting at just three years old. Picking up her first guitar at age eight, she started her first band, The Steppin Stones, just six months later as a fearless nine year old little girl.
Twenty years later she is an accomplished touring and recording artist, having performed in clubs and arenas alike around the world. Her visual art has also been a pillar of her career, and at a time when the industry took her music away from her, it was her paintings and art pieces that built her back. Her newest record War On Women; Calling All Good Men was funded entirely by her artwork amidst her legal battle to get the rights to her catalog back from an industry that conspired to keep her quiet.
It has not been an easy path for this woman in Rock N Roll. It was thanks to one of her heroes, Joan Jett, who told her after she opened for the icon:
The men will do anything to keep a woman in rock n roll down. They will sabotage you, they will saddle you with debt, they will call you crazy.
That is where she found the fortitude to fight back against the sabotage, corruption and conspiracies that revealed themselves to her come 2025.
Hannah has taken her experiences and alchemized them into a record that took great courage and clarity to create. Alongside the release of the new album she has launched an independent and interactive creative arts magazine, The Strawberry Moon Tribune, meant to serve as the container for the ancient wisdom bubbling to the surface. She believes we each carry innate inner wisdom worth sharing, so the magazine is open to submissions from readers. Art, photography, poetry, short stories: all are welcome for the chance to be published within its pages.
Join Hannah as she works to be the change she wishes to see in this world, and become part of the Strawberry Moon Street Team to help spread the word far and wide.
